The scoring in the meet was done by hand and the standard reports in the software will not necessarily produce the correct scores.
Individual and team scoring has been completed. The meet management team
apologizes for the delay and any inconvenience this may have caused your
team. The scoring that was required of this meet was not supported by the
Hytek software. This was not known until after the meet had been completed,
so some awards where given to the wrong swimmer or team. Scoring had to be
tabulated by hand which required additional time to ensure that incorrect
results were not released a second time. We believe that these point values
are correct, however, if you would like to dispute any score, please contact
one of the meet directors or the entry chair listed below by 3/20/03. If no
disputes are received by that date, we will distribute the remaining awards
and assist the teams and swimmers that received incorrect awards obtain
their proper award. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

State Meet results for the 12 & Under Championship:
The 13 and Over meet permitted swimmers to swim in open events as well as swim age group events. Meet Management was provided a ruling for high point accrual that is not supported as a standard feature in HyTEK. Consequently, the standard high point individual reports are incorrect, and perhaps the high point team totals. They need to be manually calculated, and submitted after this process is complete. All other data in the meet backup files and reports is official.

The Speedo sponsored USA National Team Members thrilled the other athletes and spectators with their performances and by tirelessly signing autographs and mugging with anxious young swimmers.
One American Record, three National Age Group records and seven other meet records were established this year.

Anderson also notes that none of this would be possible were it not for the generous gift from Milwaukee's Walter Schroeder Foundation in 1979 that enabled the construction and maintenance of the renowned Schroeder YMCA Aquatic Center.

February 3, 2003 -- The Schroeder YMCA's A+ Swim Meet is the region's most competitive swim meet of the winter with a field of 1000 athletes who will be representing 66 teams.Olympians Nate Dusing and Neil Walker and USA National Team member Rachel Komisarz are the most accomplished athletes at this year's meet, which is presented by Speedo.
Walker, 26, is a Verona, Wisconsin native who lives in Austin, Texas. He was a silver medalist on the 400 free relay and competed in back and freestyle events individually at the 2000 Olympics. "We have been alerted by USA Swimming that every non-collegiate member of the USA National Team, except one, will compete at this meet," said meet spokesman David Dawson. "For the spring nationals meet, this will mean unusually intense competition and fast times."
The National Team members include Olympic stars such as Lenny Krayzelburg, Lindsay Benko, Michael Phelps, Jenny Thompson, Ed Moses and Amanda Beard. Only those National Team members who will be competing at the NCAA championships in late March may be absent, as well as Tom Malchow, who also will not participate.
"There are two main reasons we see for this extremely fast field at the spring nationals," Dawson said. "First, the IU Natatorium is favorite pool in the world for many swimmers. It’s fast, it’s comfortable and Indianapolis is a safe, friendly host for world-class athletes. Second, these swimmers will be preparing for the Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool against the Australian team at the IU Natatorium the day after spring nationals ends. They’ll be here, they’ll be pumped up and they’ll put on a great show."
The 2003 Conoco Phillips Spring Nationals starts Tuesday, April 1 at 4 p.m. (EST) with timed finals of the 800-meter freestyle event. Preliminaries of other events will start at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 2 through Saturday, April 5. Finals of each day’s events will begin at 6 p.m.
Ticket information is available at the Indiana Swimming website (www.inswimming.org) or at the IU Natatorium (317) 274-6786.
The LSC has received a donation of two tickets to the USA Swimming, Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool. This exciting Dual Meet (Duel - Dual! Get it?) between the top US and Australian swimmers will be held April 6 in Indianapolis. This event sold out very quickly back in August and tickets are hard to come by. A drawing for the pair of tickets will be held at the LSC meeting. Any Wisconsin Swimming athlete, coach, official, parent, LSC representative or officer may enter, but you MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN.
We expect to be able to run the state meets as they are currently scheduled with no change in dates, pool, or time standards. There will be a small modification to the 12 & Under state meet info to accommodate swimmers who age up from 12 to 13 between the dates of February 28 and March 6.
This solution was accepted by the Age Group committee at their meeting on January 22. It is being submitted to USA Swimming for approval, and indications are that it will be accepted there as well.
Once approved, it will be presented to the LSC meeting on Tuesday, January 28, and it will be incorporated into the 12 & Under State Meet Info.
Thank you your patience as we worked this through. As soon as the proposal has been approved by USA Swimming and presented to the LSC, we will publish both state meet info documents with full details. In the mean time, please drop me an e-mail if you have specific questions.

On December 20th, the practice by Wisconsin Swimming of scheduling the 13 & Over State Meet before the 12 & Under State Meet was challenged on behalf of a swimmer who, by their birth date was ineligible to swim in either meet. Over the subsequent weeks the issue was escalated up to the USA Swimming Rules and Regulations Committee.
On this past Wednesday, January 15th, Wisconsin Swimming was notified that USA Swimming has ruled that the two meets, although sanctioned separately, are considered a single meet for the purpose of the requirement for a single short course Age Group Championship in Wisconsin, and thus Wisconsin is in violation of USA Swimming rule 205.2.3 which states: "When an Age Group Meet is scheduled over two weekends the younger age group must compete on the first weekend." Wisconsin Swimming was directed to make such changes as are necessary to come into conformance with the rule.
Many possible changes are being considered, the most drastic of which would mean moving dates and/or pools for the two meets. Also possible are changes in the time standards for all age groups. Knowing that many families have begun planning for the meets, not to mention meet hosts, officials and volunteers, we are making every effort to come to a resolution which has the least impact on our swimmers and their families. Conversations are continuing here and at the national level to determine a compromise solution.
At the Age Group Committee meeting, which was already scheduled for Wednesday, January 22nd, all of the options will be presented, and the committee will recommend a solution to present to the LSC at the meeting on Tuesday, January 28th. The results of the committee meeting will be posted here on the website.
I ask for your patience as we continue to gather the information necessary to make an informed decision. I will inform you as soon as we know anything.

Kyle Bubolz of Waukesha Express Swim Team (WEST) has been named to the USA Swimming 2002-2003 National Junior Team. Thirty-two athletes from across the country were invited to train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo in October. These athletes spent time in the Flume, training in the pool and learning about nutrition, doping control, race analysis and interview training. These athletes will be representing the USA in January at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney.
Kyle also set the 15-16 national age group record in the 50m free with a time of 23.15 at the U.S. Open in December. Congratulations, Kyle! Good Luck, Kyle and Mark!
