The meeting was called to order at 6:05 P.M. in Room100A of the Northview Building, at the University of Wisconsin Center, Waukesha, WI by Administrative Chair Barb Stirn. Members present were: Carol Graham (Membership Chair), Cathie Marty (Safety Chair), Mary Schneider (Treasurer), Jennifer Skolaski (Athlete Rep), Barb Stirn (Administrative Chair), Drew Walden (Senior Chair), Susan Zblewski (Officials Chair) and guest Dave Joyce.

Mary/Carol moved to accept the minutes of the previous meeting on October 24, 2000. Motion carried by voice vote.

Positions up for election this spring will be Administrative Chair, Age Group Chair, Finance Chair, General Chair, Officials Chair, Safety Chair, and Secretary.

Matt Miller (SSTY) is interested in Age Group Chair.

Dave Anderson now joined the meeting.

Blaine Carlson needs to organize the election of a new Coach’s Rep at the 12 & Under State Championships. Dave Joyce indicated that he is interested in this position.

Barb passed out a draft of the proposed Summer Meet Schedule. MAST and VAC have agreed to co-host the Summer State Championship subject to the following conditions:

• LSC secures the pool
• LSC provides the officials – they would like Susan to organize the officials. Susan agreed to do this if the clubs (MAST/VAC) would send out the letters.
• Participating teams provide timers in proportion to the number of their team’s entries from last summer
• LSC staff the Zone table which VAC has done in the recent past

Dave Anderson questioned the number of officials within the LSC. It seems that there are fewer officials each year. Discussion followed on how to obtain more people to be trained as officials. Susan announces that there will be Spring Officials Clinics on April 28 in Appleton, May 5 at Hartland Arrowhead and May 6 in Madison.

Mary Schneider gave out two handouts to be discussed. One involved a concern over a swim meet that took place on January 20, 2001 and was in possible violation of the sanction. It was reported by others at the meeting that the request for a sanction was withdrawn at the meet because of a lack of sufficient number of officials present at the meet. The other sheet was regarding the new LSC Travel Fund Policy. The wording on that document was altered slightly to reflect the new terms for National meets (formerly Senior Nationals.) 1) Swimmers will be able to obtain funds from the LSC for $400 for individual events and $200 for relay only swimmers for Nationals held in Spring and Summer. 2) Sectional participants will be reimbursed $100 only for participation in one Summer meet – either Sectionals or Zone C. Zone C swimmers will now need to pay the entire cost of attending the meet with reimbursement going to the clubs after filing the appropriate forms with the LSC. These changes will be effective with the meets held in 2001.

On the agenda from the last meeting was the issue of increasing the number of meetings. There will be a Board of Directors meeting on April 24 at 6:00 P.M. Drew suggested going to a yearly meet schedule. (We currently have two meet schedules per year.) The meeting was adjourned with no action taken on this issue.
